What are the differences between General and Business English?

  • Business English courses are different. They are specially designed for professional people – e.g. lawyers, doctors, bankers, marketers and engineers who need to improve their language & communication skills for the work where English is used as the common language;
  • Business English courses use the techniques of management training in addition to English language training. This will include simulation, case studies, team-building, problem-solving, coaching and mentoring;
  • Most of the course materials will be both very relevant and authentic, as well as being  specifically-designed for the client or work sector.
  • Classes are often small “mini groups” with other mature professional people, or one-to-one sessions.
  • Many business English teachers often have qualifications in other areas such as Economics, IT or Law which enable them to handle specific needs and “speak the same language” as their clients.
