Brazil – Health Education Seminar

Brazil has recently overtaken the UK as the world’s 6th largest economy. The public and private health sector is rapidly expanding to keep up with patient demand.

Date: 18/04/2012 - 18/04/2012
Start Time: 10:30
Registration Cut Off: 17/04/2012

Event Organiser: Training Gateway and UK Trade and Investment
Location: All, United Kingdom
Main Contact: Richard Porter
This seminar is being held prior to our health education mission to Brazil which will visit São Paulo and Brasília from 17-22 June 2012.

Patient demand isprimarily driven by an exponential increase in so called lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  Brazil’s national health service, Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), theoretically provides universal healthcare provision for the entire population, although quality of, and access to treatment, remains somewhat inconsistent throughout the country.  Those who are able to fund their own treatment, either through insurance or self-pay will experience some of the best healthcare provision in the world.
This seminar will highlight opportunities for British universities in Brazil in both the public and private sector and is specifically aimed at universities providing education in the following areas:
Postgraduate specialist nurse training
Allied health professional education (physiotherapy, paramedics, dietetics etc.)
Hospital management
Postgraduate medical courses (MSc MA in specialist postgraduate medical subjects)
Public health
The meeting will be addressed by speakers from the British Consulate-General in São Paulo and UKTI in London and we will also present case studies from universities who are currently working in Brazil. If you or your university have been operating in Brazil and would like to present at the seminar, please let us know at the e-mail address above. The agenda for the event is as follows:
