The Business English UK Team

Business English UK is run by a committee which is elected by member schools every other year. The committee makes the important and relevant day-to-day decisions about the key issues within the association and the industry. The day-to-day operation is managed by the International Manager.

Maurice Cassidy
Maurice Cassidy

Chair of Business English UK - Maurice has spent over 30 years in ELT, the last 20 of these in Business English. In his role as the Director of the Executive Centre, IH London, he works closely with clients from all over the world – individuals, corporate clients and educational agents. He has taught in Finland, Poland, Hungary and Russia, and visited many schools in the extensive IH world network.

Mark Waistell
Mark Waistell

Committee Member - Mark is the Senior Partner of Accent International, Senior Consultant at Accentuate, member of national bodies e.g. Former Chair and continuing committee member of Business English UK , Founding Chair and continuing committee member at English UK (South West) and member and Acting Chair of British Council Accreditation Advisory Committee. Mark has a first degree in Biochemistry, a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, the RSA Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults and has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Bob Robertson
Bob Robertson

Committee Member - Bob studied French, German and Italian at Cambridge University and Education at Durham. He taught languages in secondary schools and was an advisory teacher with an English Education Authority giving support and professional development to language teachers. For eight years he was a member of a national committee that developed the communicative method which is now the standard way of teaching English as a foreign language. In 1989 he founded Robertson Languages International Ltd. He has been involved in all aspects of training delivery.

Norman Renshaw
Norman Renshaw

Committee Member - Norman is Managing Director of IH InTuition and a Board Director of International House World Organisation. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Warwick, a Diploma in Marketing and holds the CELTA qualification. After a career in marketing and advertising Norman set up InTuition in 1990. InTuition was the first school to specialise in one-to-one English immersion programmes and first to be British Council accredited.

Hauke Tallon
Hauke Tallon

Committee Member - Hauke is Chief Executive of The LondonSchool Group, which has offered English language training for over 100 years as well as Communication Skills training and specialist online training. After graduating, Hauke worked as a language trainer in Japan, then spent the next 20 years working in manufacturing industries before returning to the English language training sector in 2002.

Fiona Dunlop
Fiona Dunlop

Committee Member - Fiona is Academic Director at Wimbledon School of English. She has been involved in many aspects of ELT over the past 20 years, including teacher training, Business English and academic management. She is a trainer in ELT course design, training new teachers, teacher observation, academic quality and motivating long stay students.

Mike Hogan
Mike Hogan

Committee Member - a director of York Associates, Mike delivers language and communication skills and international team training to clients throughout Europe. He is a licensed coach for The International Profiler (for intercultural competency) and a practitioner of TMP (Team Management Profile) for international team development. Originally from Dublin, Mike recently moved to York after 13 years working in the corporate training sector in Germany.

Sarah Wang
Sarah Wang

International Manager of Business English UK - Sarah has the overall responsibilities for the work of Business English UK. With the support from the BEUK Committee, Sarah has led many successful marketing initiatives in promoting the Business English training sector overseas. Of Chinese origin, Sarah studied and worked in China before coming to the UK to pursue her postgraduate studies. She gained her Master's degree in Education from Manchester University and marketing qualifications from CIM. She worked in a managerial position for a large international telecom company in London before joining English UK in 2005.
